Martha Ramirez

Martha is what you might call a "life-taught" artist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Virginia, it is not in art history though. All her life experiences have led up to the fruition of her dream, being an artist. She has been married for twenty years and they have one son who is studying art, design, and architecture in college. Her husband runs his own electrical contracting firm and plays on a ton of softball teams in his free time, freeing up the den for Martha to paint. The other family member is an adorable chihuahua who is spoiled rotten. Martha's love of art started as soon as she could hold a crayon. She use to dream of being an artist when she grew up. One of her earliest masterpieces was made from Helena Rubenstein cosmetics and her parent's bedroom wall. Back then Martha didn't understand that lipstick was not as art form. Her mother drove the point home! Today Martha uses acrylics instead of lipstick but her palette is as broad as Maybelline. If you noticed the eyes are always closed in Martha's art. Her father use to always tell her that if you close your eyes, you see with your heart. He taught her to love and  to respect nature. Martha has always loved nature, make a point to check out her feathered architect series. Nature has a very spiritual effect on a person, humbles them showing their own struggles are not near as harsh as that of a wildlife's food chain. Martha's style is compared to that of stained glass. The compartmentalized creations are called "MERIDIANS" by Martha. Meridians are the energy pathways of body and dreams that sometimes become blocked. Knowing your mind, spirit, and heart polarizes the energy and frees the dreams. Open your eyes to live your dream.
